Ankaragucu vs Kocaeli Birlikspor match preview!

Ankaragucu travel to Kocaeli this weekend hoping to continue their good form and make it 3 wins on the trot. A win against the home side could give Ankaragucu an outside chance of making the playoffs. Kocaeli also have the playoffs in their sight as only 2 points separate them and Sariyer.

Kocaeli have been on decent form themselves of late but were dealt a blow last weekend with a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sariyer. They also have good experience throughout their side such as Cafercan Aksu, Ustun Bilgi and Adnan Gungor.

Ankaragucu on the other hand have one of the youngest sides in Turkey but have been showing good progress under manager Aykan Atik. A good 3-0 win over Pazarspor last weekend keeps the confidence levels high with Hasan Ayaroglu, Teoman Erkan and Hasan Kaya forging a good partnership up front which has been lacking all season.

Hasan Ayaroglu has been the key player for Ankaragucu this season. With the departures of Emre Tasdemir, Mehmet Cakir, Mehmet Erdem and Volkan Yilmaz it left a huge void in the Ankaragucu attack. Hasan has helped fill some of that with some excellent displays. If he keeps up this form then its only a matter of time before he is snapped up by a Super Lig or Lig 1 side.

In other news away from the pitch, it has been confirmed today that Melih Gokcek and Osmanlispor have failed to pay Ankaragucu the 750,000 TL they owe for Umut Nayir as well as the 2 Million Lira Gokcek promised to help the club.

It further confirms that Gokcek isn't a man of his word, can never be trusted and will do everything in his power to try and destroy Ankaragucu.

If any of the residents kankas could help Tony with instructions on how he can sign up to Passolig to attend Genclerbirligi matches can they let me know.

  1. In regards to the note in the last sentence.

    Tony,
We are boycotting Passolig. After years and years of being season ticket holders, this year we haven't been to a single match because of the Passolig ticketing system. There are many articles about this on the blog. Because of the fan boycott, Genclerbirligi attendance is down 90 percent this year.

We are all are desperate to go to a match and the various fan groups got together last week and decided that the picket line will be lowered for the April 8 Turkish Cup match. That one is a quarterfinal against Bursaspor and no Passolig will be required. I will post more details when we get a bit closer to the date.

  2. The match in Kocaeli is what we footie fanatiks call ......... a classic 6 pointer !

With Ankaragucu 5 points behind Kocaeli then nothing less than 3 points will keep the Play-Off dream alive.

A difficult match, but on last weekend's performance it is not impossible for Ankaragucu to win it. It will certainly be an acid test of their resolve !!

As for IMG and his debts to the Club, it is now up to management to show THEIR resolve !!!
